AN THEN THERE WERE SEVEN

Friday, May 29, 2009 (21:52:44)
Hello everyone! Its been awhile and oh my has the team been busy.

Since the launch of OSSWG our existance has become known to many more Star Wars Fans and PreCu lovers with a new member signing on to Persistent Worlds and OSSWG daily!

I would advise many if not already done so to sign up at www.osswg.com to gain the benefits. We have a very nice community forming a strong bond considerably fast. We have constant members testing out the OSSWG test server finding bugs, which is really helping out the Developers.

Moving on, Persistent Worlds would like to give a warm welcome to a new Developer on the team! codemonkey found us through OSSWG website and has been plummeting the forums exceptionally. We are sure that codemonkey will be able to offer a lot of experience and innovation to the table.

COMBAT! "/at"

Monday, April 06, 2009 (22:52:45)
Hello to all and welcome to all those who have joined us since the last news post.

Here is some of the news that has been going on around here in the past few weeks.

Development Status

So far so good!
We have been hard at work on the emulator.
So items that we want to give status updates on are

Crafting
Crafting has been implemented and is almost complete. We have a few more things to add but it is almost there!
We need to add data into schematics etc, but other than that crafting is coming along quite nicely!

Combat
Yes we have basic combat now!
We have successfully implemented a basic combat engine. We have a lot more to add but now that the foundation is there we are much closer to our goal of releasing a public server for testing! This also brings us closer to working on creature AI and other parts of the game dealing with combat.

On another note:

We welcome a new community to the fold of SWG emulation. This new community is called Old School SWG. Their web site is at www.osswg.com.

This community has been founded by two of our team members and will be running their own emulator servers.

What does this means to any communities interested in running our emulation software?

Well OSSWG has volunteered to run alpha code and will be always be at the forefront. But this does not mean that any other communities will not be able to do the same. What it does mean is that communities will have a model to follow to run and a place to ask questions on how to run the servers and what kind of work it takes to run them.

The team members running OSSWG are MrAgent and Peej.

MrAgent is our newest member but he comes from an IT background so his expertise is in running and maintaining servers in a multi user environment. He makes the perfect person to run a community server host since he has the technical expertise to run the game server.

Closing

New Systems and updates are being posted to our forums at the following link to the Server Feature Set Document.

So until next time we remind you to tell your friends about us and have them drop by and say hi on our irc servers.

Thanks to all

Thanks for being patient to all those who regularly check on our site!

Just to clear a few things up, we are still in development and will not stop until this emulator is done, all though forums are quiet our IRC is active and you will get a reply.

We are very busy behind the scenes thus the reason for updates being sparse. Developers are working hard making sure that no errors occur before things are put onto the server.

Being very thorough, they only release once all bugs are fixed to their knowledge, knowing that the next revision will be stable.

We encourage those of you to join our IRC to get the maximum in communication between the Development team and you guys and gals in the Community.

We are growing with new registered users every week, please do make yourself heard. We want to answer your questions, we want to help you with any queries that arise and this is best done though IRC.

A few of you have had trouble locating our IRC Server Address as this has been identified after being mentioned and is now located just under the Server Login address.

There's been great progress since our last update and please remember to check the Project Feature Set Document in the Forum Announcements on what is currently being implemented and what is still to be done.

Moving on...

Persistent Worlds would like to give a very warm welcome to a new member of the Team! MrAgent.

He will be dealing with our SWG Cluster Servers, maintaining and improving how they run along with any questions and answers that we will have soon.

Hopefully an update on a time and day when this will be done on our IRC Server. -
