Hello to all and welcome to all those who have joined us since the last news post.
Here is some of the news that has been going on around here in the past few weeks.
Development Status
So far so good!
We have been hard at work on the emulator.
So items that we want to give status updates on are
Crafting
Crafting has been implemented and is almost complete. We have a few more things to add but it is almost there!
We need to add data into schematics etc, but other than that crafting is coming along quite nicely!
Combat
Yes we have basic combat now!
We have successfully implemented a basic combat engine. We have a lot more to add but now that the foundation is there we are much closer to our goal of releasing a public server for testing! This also brings us closer to working on creature AI and other parts of the game dealing with combat.
On another note:
We welcome a new community to the fold of SWG emulation. This new community is called
Old School SWG. Their web site is at
www.osswg.com.
This community has been founded by two of our team members and will be running their own emulator servers.
What does this means to any communities interested in running our emulation software?
Well
OSSWG has volunteered to run
alpha code and will be always be at the forefront. But this does not mean that any other communities will not be able to do the same. What it does mean is that communities will have a model to follow to run and a place to ask questions on how to run the servers and what kind of work it takes to run them.
The team members running OSSWG are MrAgent and Peej.
MrAgent is our newest member but he comes from an IT background so his expertise is in running and maintaining servers in a multi user environment. He makes the perfect person to run a community server host since he has the technical expertise to run the game server.
Closing
New Systems and updates are being posted to our forums at the following link to the
Server Feature Set Document.
So until next time we remind you to tell your friends about us and have them drop by and say hi on our irc servers.
Thanks to all
Persistent Worlds Development Team
